J. D. grew up in Sterling, Virginia, and graduated from the College of William & Mary in 2017. In February 2024, he completed his six years of service in the Virginia Army National Guard as a Sergeant in the Infantry. J. D. and his wife Aubrey live in Arlington, Virginia, with their son Jacob and their yellow lab Moose.
What have you been up to lately?
In 2018 I decided to read every Pulitzer-prize-winning biography of American presidents. So far I've read Truman's, Adams', Washington's, Jackson's, Teddy Roosevelt's, and Grant's. I most recently took a slight detour into French Emperors with Napoleon by Andrew Roberts.
What is your dream job?
Is it cheating to say this one? I love learning, and by extension sharing what I know.
What are your wardrobe constants?
Like President George H. W. Bush, I enjoy 'fun' socks. If they are fashionable, someone else bought them for me.

Failing Ranger school.
